The L. M. Montgomery Literary Society was well-represented at the Conference: at least seven of our members attended and three of those -- Beth Cavert, Emily Woster and Christy Woster -- presented papers.

| In celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the filming of the first movie of Anne of Green Gables, Carolyn Strom Collins presented "Re-creating the 1919 Lost Silent Movie of Anne of Green Gables" at the Dedham, Massachusetts, Historial Society meeting on November 19, 2009.
The movie was filmed in and around Dedham in August 1919 and was premiered there in November 1919. Collins' re-creation uses still photographs, a long-lost 'script' of the movie, and other resources to show how the movie was put together and how it differed from the Anne books on which it was based. She also presented some details on the Hollywood scandal that finally led to the destruction of the original film.
This program was originally presented as part of the 2008 L. M. Montgomery International Symposium in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

9th "Anne" Book Released
The Blythes are Quoted, edited by Benjamin Lefebvre, has been published and is now available in Canada (bookstores and Amazon.ca). It is available for pre-ordering on Amazon.com.
The original manuscript was delivered by L. M. Montgomery to her publisher the day before her death in April, 1942. It was not immediately published but, in 1974, a heavily-edited version was published as The Road to Yesterday.
This new version promises to contain the entire manuscript -- short stories and poems -- in which Anne and her family appear.
